eBay has more traffic than most sites on the planet. There is bound to be a way to steel some traffic. I'm talking about the crumbs. I don't need the whole cake. I just was a very small piece of the pie. That said. A small piece of a large pie is a pretty big piece, but a large piece of nothing is still nothing.
One way to get traffic from ebay is by selling reports and e-books you write in your niche (write some useful how-to's and sell them for very low price, the point in this case is the traffic, not the money).
Don't forget, you can create an about page where you put a link that directs people back to your blog/site.

Craiglist is the most powerful classifies site in the world. And its FREE. You can give stuff away just like with the eBay strategy. In exchange you get great backlinks to your blog or landing page. Check out this list I found of other classified sites to use.
